For over five years, Live stand up comedy has taken place in Crewe, attracting people from all over the area to see some of the highest calibre acts and some real stars in the making. Seeing the likes of Rhod Gilbert, John Bishop, Reginald D Hunter and Alan Carr - to name but a few - take to the stage for a great ticket price has mean't an increase in popularity.

This May - The Very Best In Stand Up comes to the Nantwich Civic Hall, promising some of the finest names in Stand Up from all over the world. The ticket price is staying the same at £9 - which is half the price of most of the major UK comedy venues - and it will take place in a comfortable, fully seated environment with tables to reserve for groups of friends to enjoy some of the finest comedy performers around.

The first show brings together four top acts to kick off comedy at the Civic. The Very Best In Stand Up will take place on the first friday of every month and we've got some fantastic acts lined up for the rest of the year starting with our May show.

Keeping the show together as Compere for the evening is Ray Peacock. A prolific writer and comic performer, Ray Peacock is one of the most popular comperes, headline performers and TV warm up acts on the circuit. In 2007 Ray began presenting his Podcast alongside Ed Gamble and Raji James. Sharp witted with excellent improvisational skills, Ray has completed warm up duties for "Friday Night With Jonathon Ross", "The IT Crowd" and "Harry Hill's TV Burp", to name just a few.

Barry Castagnola has been on the circuit for longer over 5 years and really kick started his career with a hugely successful 2004 show, titled "The Importance Of Being Not Too Earnest". Since then he's graced our TV screens on several occasions, and continued to headline bills at some of the countries premier comedy clubs and festivals including Glastonbury and Reading.

Back by popluar demand, we asked one of the most popular acts from our time at Crewe's M Club to come back and kick off our opening show in Nantwich. Dan Nightingale started off as a sound tech for a comedy gig in Preston and decided to give stand up comedy a go. In a short few years, He shot through the comedy ranks and was last year nominated in the "Best Compere" category of one of the industry's leading awards. Dan's traditionally always done Compere duties when we've booked him in the past, but so many want to see the guy do his stuff in a set...We're glad to help.

Our final act for the evening, Eddy Brimson, has an impressive CV - Ranging from sports writer of seven books, presenter of the World Cup 98 documentary "Tear Gas and Tantrums" and even being the guy who made the now legendary move of burning down Frank Butcher's car lot in Eastenders, but really finds his home onstage. A sure fire quick gag rate and a little bit of filth thrown in for good measure - strap yourselves in for Eddy Brimson.

The show will be finished by 11pm and tickets will be on sale for June's show the following week after the show, when we also announce the line-up.
