Sol Bernstein

Al Pitcher...We told you he was good, didn't we? It was a shame that more people did'nt get to see Al Pitcher's masterclass in stand up comedy in September, but the people that came along made a room that was two thirds full seem like a packed house by creating a great atmosphere. It concluded four shows this year which were full hour long specials and now we get back to business on the normal format of shows.

October is on us already and it seems like only last week when we were updating the website for january with Reginald d Hunter. That's what they say though, "Time flies when you're having fun", so we'll let a bit more of it fly this month when another top headline act makes his debut at the club. And another top support too...and, we won't try and jinx it either, Toby Hadoke returns to the club.

With the birthday show right around the corner, we've someone this month who builds up perfectly to the big bash and every time we've seen him live, he's ripped every single room he's played. Absolutely perfect for us lot then!

Sol Bernstein is one of the countries veteran stand-up acts and we could spend the rest of this piece talking Sol up, because of his storied career in stand-up and the world of entertainment and letting you know the numerous TV shows he's done over the years, but that's not what we're going to do. We're going to leave you with two quotes made about Sol and move on so you can find out for yourselves. Amongst many celebrity fans that Sol has acquired over the years, Sammy Davis Jr. said "The man is what SHOW-BIZ is all about", and more recently the metro said "Why aren't you in a queue buying a ticket to see Sol Bernstein"...A very worthy lead up to November's show.

Also in tow for the evening is a spot from new Manchester comic Chris Tavner. Chris has long wanted to play Limelight Comedy and we think it's because it's become known as a great audience for new acts. Following Chris is Anthony Miller, who was last at the club in 2005 for one of Three Minute Warnings final shows. In the middle section, Limelight Comedy is pleased to welcome Benny Boot, an Australian comic starting to make a real reputation for himself on UK soil.

Tickets are available now for the show on October 16th 2008, priced £5 from the Limelight Front Desk or by calling them on 01270 251929. The show starts at 8.30pm

The Birthday show Line-Up has changed and although Gordon Southern has had to pull out, We dropped lucky and managed to replace him with an act best known from his TV performances, making it the best line-up in the clubs 5 year history. We'll announce that last act once all the people that have supported Limelight Comedy over the past five years have been able to buy tickets, but please get your tickets soon and you can make a saving by buying October and November’s together.

You can pay £11 for the two months tickets by asking for the offer at the Limelight's desk or when you call up for tickets on 01270 251929. The announced Line-up is Compere Toby Hadoke with the man seen so often with Ricky Gervais, whether that's on tour to 20,000 people at the MEN arena or in BBC's The Office, Robin Ince. Also appearing will be Canadian comic Glenn Wool, nominated for Best Headline act this year and known for his appearances on Channel 4's "8 out of 10 cats". Add to that the act that we'll be announcing soon and this evening becomes remarkable for the ticket price. Come and celebrate five years with us...
